For 2024 the teaching lab in room B321 EH has been taken away and converted to research only. Consequently the experimental program for this class has changed.
Principles of feedback control. Load control, displacement control, strain control. Rapid transients; step functions. Ramp functions. Oscillatory tests. Interpretation of phase angles. Time dependence of materials in creep and relaxation. Failure by yield, fracture, crushing; buckling of tubes. Capability to test in compression, tension, and bending.
